Since my mother is a college consultant, I had plenty of advice during the college admissions process and choosing the right major. After considering my options, I decided to major in Communications at the College of Charleston. Upon graduation, I worked in a number of different jobs and found that I was qualified and comfortable in these positions.
When I decided to do something on my own and established Southern-Linens, I saw the benefits of my college degree. I learned how to write and communicate verbally which are two skills that have come in very handy at Southern-Linens. I also gained a lot of knowledge about building a website and public relations. I knew how to write press releases and blogs so this was something that I could use to help get the word out about Southern-Linens.
Dealing with clients everyday is probably one of the most important parts of my job. While I am responsible for all of the designs and monogramming, it is critical that I talk with clients so that I understand exactly what they are looking for. Southern-Linens is not just a monogramming business. I am very particular about the things I choose to monogram and each order is custom made according to each client's specifications. The positive reviews that I get from clients have convinced me that my Communications degree was well worth the time and money. I see the benefits applied to my work every day,
